There are two main kinds of cells of the nervous system:

Glia, also called glial cells, provide the support system for the central nervous system,helping the neurons growin the right direction and maintaining a favorable chemicalenvironment for the neurons.

Neurons do the communication work of the brain. They are the focus of this module. Each neuron is designed to carry electrochemical signals, as well as to relay those signals to other neurons. A neuron consists of a cell body, an axon, and dendrites.
