APA Reference List: Books - One Author

You will find all the necessary information on the title page of the book and the copyright page. Use the most recent copyright date. Include city and state of publication or name of major city alone. Give the publisher's name in a shortened but intelligible form, including words like Press, but omitting Co. or Inc.

  Example      Sidel, R. (1990). On her own: Growing up
in the shadow of the American dream
. New
York: Penguin.
  Description Indent five spaces / last name / comma / initial / period / year in parentheses / period / title underlined / period / place of publication / colon / publisher / final period

This is the same entry set in a hanging indent style, which some instructors may prefer for student papers.

   York: Penguin.
