Political Updates Chapter Four: The Politics of Elections and Parties
State Conventions, pg. 146
For the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections, Texas is allowed 34 electoral votes. The number of presidential electors a state is awarded is based on the number of U.S. representatives and senators the state has. Because of population increases as reflected in the 2000 census, Texas now has 32 representatives.
