Chapter 10: The Structure of Local Government

There are national associations for most of the five types of governments, including the National Association of Counties, the National League of Cities, and the National Association of Towns and Townships.

The National School Boards Association has a relevant web site for information on school districts.

Special districts, by virtue of their specialized nature, tend to have function-specific national organizations. For example, there is a National Association of Conservation Districts.

Interesting web sites for individual counties include Florida's Miami-Dade County, California's Los Angeles County, and Missouri's St. Louis County.

For information on cities, check out the Big Apple and Dallas.
