¡Conéctate!

  1. Enjoy Perú: This website organizes tours to Perú as well as to other South American countries such as Ecuador and Bolivia. The information on Machu Picchu is a helpful starting point for researching this ancient Incan city, especially the overview section.

  2. Perú.com: Run by the Interlatin Corporation, this website focuses on general information about Perú. The URL takes you to the Cuzco section, which includes information and photos of Machu Picchu as well as most of the Peruvian Andean region.

  3. Galápagos 2000: This website offers various language versions of basic information about the Galápagos Islands. (Be sure to click on Español-no cheating!) Its sections on links will take you to a variety of websites both on the Galápagos Islands and on Ecuador in general.

  4. Ecuaventura: Because the Galápagos are a protected area, access for visitors is conducted through authorized tour groups. Ecuaventura is one such group, and its website provides a useful overview of the islands, as well as some other interesting features, including a quechua dictionary.

  5. Perú Ecológico: This page is part of a website dedicated to ecological issues in Perú. Because the vicuña is a protected animal, the harvesting of its fibers is regulated. This page gives some background information on the vicuña (whose domesticated equivalent is the alpaca), as well as some uses for its fur.

  6. Incalpaca: This website is run by Grupo Inca and describes a variety of products made from the fur of alpacas. Follow the Productos link to see their line of alpaca goods.

  7. Escuela de Montaña: The Grupo Ascensionismo del Colegio San Gabriel offers this website as a good starting point for people who are interested in mountain-climbing in Ecuador. It provides information on the country's various peaks, lodging, mountain biking, and other practical guidance, as well as on the history of mountain climbing in Ecuador.

  8. YMCA Tours: The YMCA offers a tour of Ecuador that includes climbing Cotopaxi, one of the country's highest mountains. This website gives a day-by-day itinerary for a trip to Ecuador that includes a two-day mountain climbing excursion.

  9. Comida Perú: This website is run by the Terra network and includes Peruvian recipes as well as other information on the cuisine of Perú. The Busca tu receta feature is a quick way to find recipes for cuy!

  10. Sabores del Perú: The Patronato de Perú sponsors this website, which focuses on the foods and flavors of Perú. The recipe for cuy is listed under Segundos (side dishes).
