CAPÍTULO 6: ¿Adónde vas?

Voces de la comunidad

Ann R. Álvarez: Visit the Casa Central website if you live in the Chicago area and are looking for volunteer opportunities within the Latino community, particularly with children and the aged. You can also find out about special events, employment, and sponsorship opportunities at Casa Central.

¡Conéctate!

  1. Yahoo Mexico: This is the root directory for the Mexican-run version of Yahoo, starting with topics related to Mexico. From here it is possible to go to a variety of subcategories that are then further subdivided.

  2. Mexico Web: Similar to Yahoo Mexico, this is a root directory for a list of categories related to Mexican web pages. The directory includes a number of subcategories that are then further categorized within each sub group.

  3. Web de México: This site is run by the Universidad de Guadalajara and MexPlaza. Focused entirely on Mexico, it includes subtopics such as arts, sciences, history, geography, cuisine, economy, tourism, and politics.

  4. MéxicoGlobal: Like the first two URLs, this is a root directory that takes the user to a number of Mexican-related sites organized by topics. It is run by MéxicoGlobal.com, a division of Victek Internet.

  5. México Desconocido: This website is the online version of the magazine México Desconocido. While it, too, offers topics in a variety of categories, its focus is much more cultural than the other websites included in this list.
