Welcome to the Deutsch heute web site!

The Deutsch heute web site includes web link resources, one search activity and self-tests (ACE) for each chapter.

Web Link Resources. If you would like to know more about the topics in the cultural notes, you can visit these authentic German web sites.

Web Search Activity. In each activity, you explore authentic German web sites as you search for answers to questions about cultural topics covered in the corresponding chapter. You can answer the questions on screen and email the answers to your instructor, or you can print the answers out and submit them.

Note: When you click on any link to a German web site to begin the search activity, a small browser window containing the German web site will open.

Windows Users: To return to the Deutsch heute browser window, so that you can fill in the activity answers, go to the task bar at the bottom of your screen, and click on the Deutsch heute web site button. To return to the browser window containing the German web site, go to the task bar at the bottom of your screen, and click on the German web site button.

Mac Users: You can position the German web site window next to the Deutsch heute web site, window, and toggle between them as you complete the questions in the Deutsch heute web site window.

Self-Tests (ACE). ACE self-tests are provided on the Deutsch heute web site for every chapter of Deutsch heute. The tests include multiple choice, true and false, and fill-in-the-blank questions. These tests help you check your understanding of each textbook chapter's grammar and vocabulary.

Note: The QuickTime 4.1 Plug-in is required for viewing the audio clips that accompany the ACE self-tests. If QuickTime 4.1 or higher is not already installed on your computer, please download it now from the Apple web site. Downloading may take up to 20 minutes.

The ACE self-tests are self-correcting, which means that you can check your answers yourself at any time. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Submit Quiz button. The Assessment Page will appear so that you can review the answers to the questions you have completed so far. To return to the test, click on the Back button on your web browser. Once you have completed the test, click on the Submit Quiz button. The Assessment Page will appear and you can review your results and receive your score. To receive your overall percentage, you must answer all the questions.
