| This fragment of a mammoth statue of Constantine is over eight feet tall. Its size and the emperor’s upward gaze symbolize the increasing emphasis which the later emperors placed upon imperial majesty. Previously, imperial statues were somewhat larger than life-size, but this statue of Constantine would have dwarfed them all. | ||
