  1. Analyze how public and political expectations and constraints shaped Roosevelt’s choices during the First Hundred Days.

  2. Discuss the sources of opposition to Roosevelt’s First Hundred Days and the outcome of Roosevelt’s response to his critics.

  3. Explain the ways in which the New Deal changed society so as to provide better opportunities and offer more choices to those who found their road to success obstructed on account of gender, race, and poverty.

  4. Understand the constraints and choices that led to the end of the New Deal following the 1936 election.
