Subject-Verb Agreement: Demonstrative Pronouns and Adjectives

A demonstrative adjective must agree in number with the noun if modifies: this solution, these solutions; that problem, those problems.

  Singular    this that
  Plural    these those

A demonstrative pronoun must agree with its antecedent.

  Example The major is planning changes. These are bound to be controversial.
