Sentence Problems: Sentence Fragments
A fragment is
an incomplete sentence that is incorrectly punctuated as if it were a complete sentence.
A sentence (other than a command) must contain a subject, a complete verb, and an
independent clause.
Advertisers and writers occasionally use fragments deliberately for a crisp, immediate
effect: "What a luxury should be." "Sleek lines." "Efficient in rain, sleet, and
snow." "A magnificent film." However, you should identify and correct them in your
formal writing.
