Site Observations Chapter 10: Constructivist Learning Theory, Problem Solving, And Transfer
- Pick one example of constructivist teaching from your observations. Describe, in detail, the context - what the lesson was about, how the students were arranged, what guidance the teacher provided. What role did the teacher play in the learning process? What role did the students play in the learning process? In your opinion, did learning occur? Was this lesson successful? Why or why not?
- Look for examples of problem solving in the classroom you are observing. Describe the nature of the problem-solving event. Was the problem-solving event student initiated or teacher initiated? How would you define the structure of the problems you observed - ill structured or well structured? If both types were observed which one appeared to be more effective? What steps were taken to solve the problem? How effective was the process?
