Reflective Journal Questions
Chapter 15: Becoming a Better Teacher by Becoming a Reflective Teacher

  1. Am I making a strong enough effort to consider the positive and negative outcomes of the approaches I use in the classroom? Am I documenting ideas and experiences that will help me to address similar situations and experiences in the future?

  2. Am I soliciting student feedback and evaluation on a regular basis? Am I using a variety of formats to obtain this feedback (written comments, talking with students, etc.)? Am I taking advantage of this feedback to improve my effectiveness as a teacher?

  3. Have I taken advantage of electronic discussion forums to receive feedback from other teachers about the techniques I am using and the problems I am encountering as a teacher? Am I taking advantage of the Internet as a supplemental resource for both content and teaching strategies related to my classes?

  4. Have I reflected on my overall teaching approaches and philosophy? How am I growing as a teacher? How has my teaching philosophy changed since I started teaching?
