Instructional modifications and accommodations are necessary so that we ensure students have appropriate access to important school curriculum. Planning and providing for these modifications is legally required on the IEP. This provides educators a foundation for educational planning. Most importantly, however, it is by implementing these modifications that students are provided tools for school success in their least restrictive environment. Educators need to monitor the effectiveness of modifications so that only those a student truly needs are utilized. We have included a checklist that compiles many modification considerations.
