Chapter 11: Use of Technology for Literacy Learning

The Role of the Teacher:The teacher is the decision maker about the technological tools that will be used in a classroom. As such, the teacher has to know the range of technology available, know how to evaluate technological applications, and know how to integrate the technology into the curriculum.

Technology as a Tool for Literacy Instruction: There are numerous ways that technology can be used as a tool for literacy instruction. Older technologies, such as transparencies, audiotapes, and videotapes have been supplemented more recently with CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, and videodiscs.
