Chapter 9: Gender Equity in Education Role Play

Research on the web the implications of the Federal Government's Title IX on gender equity in the distribution of programs and funding. Survey local school systems to determine whether resources and programs are gender-equitable in area schools.

Based on this information, devise a skit with your group that represents the conditions of women's education in the 1950s or 1960s, before the mandate. Students might, for example, request that a new women's sports team be established or argue for funding for athletic equipment and related expenses, such as travel. Then jump ahead to play out a recent scenario representing the same event.
