Chapter 2: Draw Plato's Cave

After reading Plato's Allegory of the Cave from The Republic, reflect on its implications for today's society and schools. Consider the role of the teacher in providing the knowledge that sets one free. What does freedom mean? What do you think the shadows represent? What is the real world of ideas?

Discuss your analysis of the cave with a small group within the class. As a group, draw a design of the cave to interpret the message Plato was conveying.
