In this chapter we discussed aging and social security. Use the internet to explore these issues some more. Go to the data available from United States Department of Commerce Bureau of the Census. Explore the data and answer the following questions:

  1. What is the current birth rate? What was it 20 years ago?
  2. What is the life expectancy at birth for someone borne this year? What was it 20 years ago?
  3. What will be the expected effect of the two changes listed above on the age structure of the population in the future?
