The Chapter discusses the government and business. Toward the end of the chapter it was noted that global organizations and regulations are expanding. Specifically the WTO or World Trade Organization has become more and more important in resolving trade disputes among nations. Go to the WTO homepage. Explore the site and answer the following questions:

  1. What is the WTO? When was it created?
  2. How many disputes has the WTO handled?
  3. What does the WTO consider its most important role?
  4. What are intellectual property rights? Does the WTO have anything to do with these?
  5. Does the WTO say anything about dumping?
  6. Is China a member of the WTO? Why or why not?
  7. It is said that the US is the most important member of the WTO. Why would that be the case? To what advantage would the WTO be for the United States?
