Headaches
Stress can trigger pounding pain. Stress frequently triggers tension headaches the muscles around the scalp in the back of the neck and throughout the shoulder area tighten in stressful situations and trigger a pounding sensation known as a tension headache. Stress can also trigger brief cluster headaches, cluster headaches can also occur with use of nicotine and alcohol. Alcohol and nicotine also affect blood pressure. Cluster headaches often begin with a sharp sudden burning pain on one side of the head. Usually behind or around the eye. Medications are available to give prompt relief to cluster headaches. Migraine headaches, the most severe type of headache that can include nausea vomiting confusion tiredness blurry vision and hypersensitivity to light and sound. Stress sometimes triggered migraines. People with migraines should consult a doctor for treatment. The pounding pain of headaches can often be reduced or eliminated by learning to avoid stressful situations or by using stress reduction techniques.
