Chapter 6: Comparison and Contrast Paragraphs

Narrowing the Topic
Following are ten general topics. To use these topics for a comparison or contrast paragraph, you will first want to narrow the topic by identifying possible classes of information. For example, as discussed in Paragraph Essentials, Chapter 6, the topic vehicles can be divided into specific classes of vehicles, such as sport-utility vehicles, sports cars, or sedans.

In the text box, narrow each topic by writing several possible classes of information that could be used for a comparison or contrast paragraph. After you complete this exercise, click on Email to email your response to your instructor, or click on Print to print a copy of your work.
