Chapter 4: Descriptive Paragraphs

Objective and Subjective Descriptions
In Chapter 4 of Paragraph Essentials, you read an objective and a subjective description of the Water Wizard, an automatic watering system for home landscapes. Follow the directions below to write a series of objective and subjective sentences. You do not need to develop the sentences into a full paragraph. After you complete the exercise, click on Email to email your work to your instructor, or click on Print to print a copy of your work.

1. Select an item in your home or your apartment that evokes some type of emotional response from you.

In the following text box, write 2 or 3 sentences that describe this item objectively. Your description should sound formal or technical and should not include personal reaction to the item.

Now, write 2 or 3 sentences that describe this item subjectively. Your description should include words that reflect your emotional response toward the item.
