Clustering Exercise
You can use clustering to brainstorm ideas for a writing topic and to organize details for a topic that you have selected.

To make a cluster
  1. Write the topic in the center of your paper. Enclose the topic in a circle (or any geometric shape).
  2. Begin brainstorming. Surround the topic with possible ideas. Use lines to connect each idea to the topic.
Exercise: Make a cluster for one of the following topics.

1. American sports




2. Religions of the world




3. American monuments




4. Math classes offered at your college




5. Different kinds of personalities
