Welcome to the Becoming A Master Student website! This website is equipped with articles, exercises, tests, discussion groups, web resources, PowerPoint Slides, and much more, to help your students better understand the concepts presented in the text and to encourage the use of these concepts in their life in and out of the classroom.

A wealth of material is presented on this website for each chapter of the text. Additional Articles as well as key articles from the text directly related to technology and the Internet are updated on a regular basis on the website. These articles can be assigned as part of the required reading in your class, or given as supplemental readings.

An index of Exercises provides both an online version of many Exercises, Practicing Critical Thinking, Journal Entry, and Discovery/Intention Statements from the text itself, as well as other activities unique to the website. Many of these activities offer a way for students to email their responses directly to their instructor. Some exercises also include a Discussion Group which provides the student with a forum to share their opinions and experiences with others.

An online version of the Discovery Wheel provides a dynamic way for students to use this wonderful assessment tool. The student will be able to view and print their completed Discovery Wheel. Follow-up questions then encourage the student to consider the implications of and their reactions to this assessment. Their responses can be emailed to the instructor.

ACE Practice Tests can be used as a way for students to evaluate their understanding of the strategies and concepts presented in the text. These tests are offered for every chapter to students an immediate indication of their strengths and weaknesses. Instant feedback can help students prepare for in class quizzes and tests. The ACE Practice Test questions are unique to the website and do not use questions from the test ban on the HM Class Prep CD.

Remembering Cultural Differences is a reflective tool new to the Becoming a Master Student 10^th Edition website. These brief articles describe a practical application of the many different facets of cultural diversity, and then ask the student to consider how these differences can hold meaning and use in their own lives. Ask you students to respond to these questions via email or in a live or web-based discussion.

Additional articles are provided on all of our Master Students from the text. These articles provide a brief biography of these seminal figures, adding further insight into the importance of their accomplishments. This feature also now includes a number of Internet links for the student to use to jump start their own personal exploration or in a research project.

PowerPoint Slides are available on both the Instructor's and Student's website. For instructors, these slide presentations can be used to enhance classroom lectures. For students, they can help to reinforce concepts from the text, or they can be used to solidify their understanding in preparation for tests.

Additionally, the Resource Center provides links for the student to many other resources on the Houghton Mifflin website. Encourage students to take advantage of these academic tools for further strategies for writing, speaking, Internet use, and math skills.

The Tip of the Day pop-up feature gives the students a daily reminder of useful strategies and motivational advice from all of our College Survival authors.

The Student Voices and Workplace Applications features from the text have their counterpart on the Becoming A Master Student website, where your students can submit their own reactions, opinions, and insights that they have developed in their relationship with the text. Encourage your students to use this opportunity to share their feedback with us as they reflect on their experiences with the strategies and concepts in the text.

Much consideration and work has gone in to the creation of this website to make it a useful tool to supplement your classroom. All of the features, exercises and articles available here can be used either as an assigned portion of your class, or as an outside research and learning tool for your students to access in their own time. In either case, the tools provided on the Becoming A Master Student website are intended to add an interactive dimension to the skills and applications that are addressed in the text.
