Keeping track of the changes in technology can be daunting. Follow some of these easy steps to keep on top of it the changes.

Start on campus. Being a student often means that you have free or low cost access to computers. Visit your on campus student computer lab. Consider attending courses or workshops to find out about using software programs that are useful to your studies and future careers. Your campuses computer lab is a great place to go if you're new to computers and feel some anxiety about using them. At a computer lab you can find other people who may share similar discomforts. Assist each other. Most people are happy to help someone who knows less about computers than they do.

Read magazines, newsletters, and other periodicals. To keep abreast of the latest developments, look for current computer magazines in bookstores or the library. The newest hardware and software is often written up and compared to current version. Most newspapers regularly run articles on technology and often keep their web sites updated with additional information.

Use technology to monitor technology. You can use the Internet to get the latest updates on computer technology. Go to chat rooms and newsgroups that focus on specific types of hardware and software. Explore online magazines, including "e-zines" created by individuals and small companies. Visit web sites from computer manufacturers and software companies.
