Chapter 16: Dimensions of Organization Structure

  1. Some large, publicly traded organizations have a type of organization chart that at least shows the way that their top level is structured. Using the Internet, look up the organization charts of several organizations. You may have to go to documents that are reported to the Securities and Exchange Commission in order to find them. Pick four companies in different industries for which you can find good and recent organization charts.

  2. Describe the configurational aspects of the structure of each organization.

  3. By reviewing the charts and reading the annual report for each company, see if you can describe any of the operational aspects of the structure as delineated in this chapter.
