Chapter 15:
Decision Making and Negotiation
- Assume you need to make a decision about where to locate a new plant. The
options have been narrowed down to Madison, Wisconsin; Columbia Missouri; and Bryan, Texas. You now need to find information about tax rates, unemployment
statistics, and airport access for each community. Use the Internet to search
for this information.
- In what ways do you think the emergence of the Internet has affected how managers make decisions? Give concrete
examples to support your ideas.
- Describe ways in which information technology might be used to manage brainstorming,
the nominal group technique, and the Delphi technique more efficiently than using these techniques in
more traditional ways.
- Pair up with one of your classmates and conduct a hypothetical negotiation
via email. Then discuss the pros and cons of electronic negotiation versus face-to-face negotiation based on your experience.
